Resumen
Objetivo: Correlación del índice de Mayoral y el reborde óseo de premolares y molares. Material y Métodos: La investigación es de tipo descriptivo, observacional y transversal. El universo de estudio fue de 1170 tomografías de haz cónico pretratamiento de ortodoncia y la muestra fue de 98 tomografías. Se aplico el índice Mayoral y se localizó el punto WALA ridge (WR) a nivel del primer premolar, segundo premolar y primer molar maxilar del lado derecho y del lado izquierdo. Se unieron los puntos del lado izquierdo con los del lado derecho en premolares y molares para obtener la distancia entre los puntos WR. Se recolectaron los datos en una hoja electrónica. Resultados: con el índice de Mayoral a nivel de los primeros premolares maxilares de 39.6 mm, en los segundos premolares superiores fue de 44.94 mm y en los primeros molares maxilares fue de 49.6 mm. En la distancia de los puntos del Wala ridge las medias encontradas en los primeros premolares fue de 47.01 mm, en los segundos premolares fue de 54.26 mm y en los primeros molares maxilares fue de 61.87mm. La correlación fue positiva alta entre el índice de Mayoral y el reborde óseo. Conclusión: existe muy buena correlación entre el índice de Mayoral y el reborde óseo.

Abstract
Objective: Correlation of the Mayoral index and the bone ridge of premolars and molars. Material and Methods: The research is descriptive, observational and cross-sectional. The universe of study was 1170 orthodontic pre-treatment cone beam tomographies and the sample was 98 tomographies. The Mayoral index was applied and the WALA ridge (WR) point was located at the level of the first premolar, second premolar and first maxillary molar on the right and left sides. The points on the left side were joined with those on the right side in premolars and molars to obtain the distance between the WR points. The data was collected in an electronic sheet. Results: with the Mayoral index at the level of the first maxillary premolars of 39.6 mm, in the upper second premolars it was 44.94 mm and in the first maxillary molars it was 49.6 mm. In the distance of the Wala ridge points, the means found in the first premolars was 47.01 mm, in the second premolars it was 54.26 mm and in the first maxillary molars it was 61.87 mm. The correlation was high positive between the Mayoral index and the bone ridge. Conclusion: there is a very good correlation between the Mayoral index and the bone ridge.
